The second stage of Route 1291 finds the route climbing for the first time: from Altdorf, it leads via Erstfeld, Wassen and Göschenen to Andermatt.

After the boat trip from Brunnen to Flüelen, you can start the second stage of Route 1291 rested and raring to go. You pedal from Altdorf through villages in the Uri valley. The River Reuss is your constant companion as you pass Erstfeld, Silenen, Gurtnellen, Wassen and finally Göschenen. From here, it climbs more steeply to Andermatt, the end point of the second stage of Route 1291 at around 1,437 metres above sea level.
