After a short stretch on the main Klausenpass road, you turn off onto an unpaved road and head for Alp Wängi. The ascent is regular and agreeable and passes through alp pastureland via Alp Orthalten to the Fiseten Pass, at alt. 2036 m the highest point of the tour and a good place for a rest. After admiring the unsurpassed panoramic views of the Uri valley, Klausen Pass, Clariden glacier and Glarus Alps, you can tackle the pleasant descent via Alp Gemsfairenhüttli. The next leg of the tour involves another climb, this time to the Klausen Pass at 1948 m. Here, too, the views are breathtaking, the air is pure and the restaurant offers refreshments. The route continues downwards on the old Klausenpass road. Below the Chlus, the tour follows the old Klausen road and its tight hairpin bends through the gorge to the Jägerbalm. The final leg along the cooling Fätschbach stream takes the form of an attractive single trail back to your setting off point in Urnerboden.
